Another fire near Koroit

A SECOND fire has broken out near Koroit.

The fire is on Gladmans Road, about one kilometre east of the Penshurst-Warrnambool Road.

A large number of police units and CFA tankers have responded to the fire which was reported just minutes after a fire along the Tower Hill Road at Yangery was controlled.

The CFA has urged people in the Warrong,  Koroit and Kirkstall to be on high alert.

EARLIER: Police and fire crews have responded quickly to a fire along Tower Hill Road at Yangery.

The fire, which was reported about 1.15pm, is in grass near the side of the road and has been controlled.

Seven vehicles, including tankers from district brigades have rushed to the scene.

A neighbouring resident told The Standard he was on "high alert" and could see smoke.

He said the fire appeared to be close to another blaze which occurred along the road earlier this year.

It is the fourth fire in the area north of Warrnambool in the past 24 hours, with three fires reported yesterday at Coghlans Road just north of the city's saleyards and on the western and northern sides of the airport at Mailors Flat.
