Lake Pertobe dogs warning

DOGS are becoming unwanted guests at Warrnambool’s Lake Pertobe reserve, prompting a city council warning that wandering pooches will be pounced on.

“We have received several complaints about dogs at Lake Pertobe, both at the markets and at the park during private barbecues,” council communications officer Michelle Dryburgh said.

“We remind all pet owners dogs are not permitted at Lake Pertobe at any time as it is a prohibited area.” Dogs must be on a leash in all public places unless declared as “off-leash” and pick-up bags must be carried.

Other prohibited zones are: all sports grounds, main beach from November 1 to April 30, botanic gardens, Merri River mouth and wetlands.

Meanwhile, acting local laws manager Peter McArdle said crowd behaviour had been good during the Summerbool patrols.
