Police detectives are at the scene of two fires north of Warrnambool.
A grass fire broke out on Coghlans Road, just north of the city's saleyards about 11.30am.
Three fire crews rushed to the scene and quickly brought it under control.
A Warrnambool City Council grader is being brought in to create an earth break.
Soon after, a fire was reported along Sims Lane at Mailors Flat, north of the airport.
Four fire units tackled the blaze in several big round hay bales that had been stored along a fence line.
Police are investigating both incidents.
The region is on high alert with scorching temperatures and strong winds forecast in the next few days.
The temperature had reached 36 degrees in Warrnambool at 12.30pm.
