“I love to see the kids’ faces,” Mr Hardwick said yesterday.
The winner of The Standard’s 2012 Christmas trial lights competition seconded his girlfriend Melinda Collie to help decorate his home at 6 Marlee Court, which boasts 11 inflatable decorations and hundreds of lights. The pair started the task on November 18 and finished on December 1.
It is the second year Mr Hardwick has joined in the festive spirit, but this time he added to the display by purchasing more decorations.
“I just love it.”
He said the street had become very busy each night as families witnessed the spectacle, which is powered by solar panels.
Mr Hardwick won the competition after recording an overwhelming number of votes by text and online to The Standard’s website.
He wins a $500 voucher thanks to Harvey Norman.
Second place was awarded to Brian Shanahan at 28 Queens Road in Warrnambool while the third prize went to Kate McIntosh at 134 High Street, Terang.
Twenty-nine homes in Warrnambool and 13 homes around the district entered this year’s competition.
