Warrnambool Gold and Warrnambool Blue will represent the association at the three-day tournament from January 21 to 23.
Russells Creek’s Jayaweera Bandara will coach the Gold team, while Ashley Jennings is at the helm of the Blue team.
WDCA junior co-ordinator Gordon McLeod said tournament organisers offered the association the chance to field two teams, rather than the one it has in previous years.
McLeod said the offer proved fortunate when 36 emerging cricketers turned up to selection trials.
“Most years we have one team but this year we had 36 kids to choose from,” he said. “It’s a really good sign.
“Most clubs are represented which is also great.”
McLeod said the teams were evenly balanced.
The players will take part in a pre-tournament practice at Dennington on January 10.
