Jones, 17, won the boys’ 17-18 years’ 400-metre freestyle and 400m individual medley. He swam in his age group’s 200m freestyle final last night.
Jones clocked three minutes and 58.32 seconds, ahead of silver medallist Jack Gerrard, of Melbourne, in 4.07.48.
He won the 400-metre individual medley in 4.29.71, beating second-placed Tyrone Dobrunz, from Tiger Sharks club, who clocked 4.38.63.
Warrnambool Swimming Club coach Jayson Lamb said Jones was among a number of his swimmers impressing at the state championships.
Lamb said many of the club’s 18 swimmers to qualify for the titles had set personal bests in the first half of competition.
“Fraser Harrison is in the under 16 boys’ 100m backstroke final tonight and he set a national qualifying time in a heat this morning,” Lamb said yesterday.
“Blake Turner on the first night made the 200m freestyle 13-year-old boys’ final.
“It was very good for him.
“It was a good sign for his 50m and 100m later in the week.”
The Victorian age championships wrap up on Sunday night.
