The Jamie Fenech-coached team won their fourth and final game against South East Sharks in Melbourne.
The win improved the Waves’ win-loss record to 2-2, enabling them to finish fifth out of 10 teams.
Western Waves batted first against South East in the 40-over game, making 166.
Hawkesdale’s Grace Linke contributed 39.
The Waves were in a commanding position at 3-137 before a middle and lower order collapse.
On the back of Wesley-CBC’s Ellen Hopkins’ damaging spell where she took 3-13, the Waves skittled the Sharks for 104 in reply.
Linke’s strong form continued with 2-33.
Western Waves team manager Lauren Tink said she was pleased with the girls’ efforts throughout the tournament.
The Waves won its opening Twenty20 match against North Metro, lost their second twenty20 match to South West and lost its opening 40-over game to East Metro.
“We had a pretty good line-up and were happy,” Tink told The Standard.
“We were unlucky in the two games we lost, they were close games and they were hot conditions.”
“We did a really good job.
“The girls really put in the hard yards and worked for it.”
