Shaun Chapman, 31, of Lava Street, was taken into custody last month after allegedly assaulting a woman for a second time.
He appeared in Warrnambool Magistrates Court this week.
On November 8 he was charged with intentionally causing injury, recklessly causing injury, making a threat to kill, assault with a weapon and unlawful assault after an alleged incident on November 8.
He was later released on bail.
But on Saturday, November 17 Mr Chapman was again arrested and charged with breaching an intervention order and unlawful assault.
On Tuesday, Mr Chapman’s defence counsel Matthew Senia said his client would contest the charges and intended to apply for bail in the coming weeks.
The contest hearing will be in Warrnambool Magistrates Court on January 29.
