IT was as easy as one, two, three for Kirra Umbers on the weekend.
The Warrnambool Swimming Club (WSC) member made it a hat-trick of victories at the South West Winter Series in Hamilton on Saturday night.
Her performance prompted club president Peter Logan to declare her “the star of the show”. The 12-year-old claimed first placings and recorded personal best times in the 100-metre individual medley, 50m breastroke and 100m breastroke.
“Kirra so far this year has improved enormously,” Logan said.
He also highlighted performances from Sarah Flaherty, Laura Riordan and Liam Burns.
Sarah, 9, racked up two first placings and two second placings in her 25m events while Laura, 11, enjoyed a personal best time in the 50m breastroke.
It qualifies her for the Victorian Country Short Course Championships in Shepparton next month.
Ten-year-old Liam is a newcomer to swimming but Logan said he was full of promise after strong performances in the 200m freestyle, 50m butterfly, 50m breastroke and 100m individual medley.
WSC sent 18 members to Hamilton.
The club plans to send large contingents to both the next round of the South West Winter Series in Portland on August 7 and the state country titles in Shepparton on August 14-15.
