AS an aerobics competitor Brenton Andreoli knows the importance of making the right moves at the right time.
Two years ago the Naringal teenager decided to switch coaches and he hasn't looked back since.
The 16-year-old took out his solo and duo events at the International Sport Aerobics and Fitness (FISAF) National Championships in Melbourne at the weekend.
It was his second national title. He and partner Emily Daniels, of Torquay, clinched the national mixed pairs championship last year.
``This time around it wasn't that much of surprise,'' Brenton said.
``We competed against the same people as last year but everyone had worked harder so the competition was a lot harder.
``We were pretty comfortable going into the competition considering we won it last year. But we still couldn't be too cocksure.''
Andreoli's form surged when he decided to shift his training to Geelong in late 2007.
He was unfazed about clocking thousands of kilometres on the Princes Highway.
``Since I've changed coaches I have really improved. It has been well worth it.''
The pair claimed the championship from last year's individual male and female victors Kenji Fujihara and Grace Sutherland.
Brenton finished runner-up to Kenji at last year's championships. He said he and his opponent struggled with nerves at the weekend.
``Our best performances were both on the Friday. They weren't as good at the finals on Sunday.''
Brenton and Emily have their eyes set on this year's world championships which will be held in the Caribbean in December.
