Just 1.5 percentage points stood between first and second place at the Warrnambool and District Indoor Bias Bowls Association competition on Saturday at the Arc.
The tournament attracted 32 teams from across Victoria and South Australia, but it was a Warrnambool team skippered by Maurie Kemp who took home the trophies.
Kemp alongside Max Saunders (third), Dawn Hird (second) and Margot Saunders (lead) won all four games to finish with a percentage of 66.667.
The second placed team, skippered by Dennis Barry, missed out on the win by the smallest of margins and finished with a percentage of 65.116.
Match committee chairman Graham Firth said the competition was "painfully close".
"Everybody was so pleased with how the day ran and in the end the winners scores were so close," he said.
"The top three teams won all four of their games so the final scores were put down to percentage."
Firth said the tournament also trialled a new draw system.
"Normally the match committee does the draw but this time we trialled having the skippers pull their competitors names off a table," he said.
"It worked really well and all the teams seemed very happy with the change."
The Warrnambool club will next compete on September 4 in Moama at an inter-association event.
