FROM the top 99 to the top 33 to almost the top three.
Warrnambool Springers Gymnastics Club's Aylish Auchettl worked her way through the ranks in the Victorian championships but narrowly missed out on a podium finish.
The 12-year-old finished fourth overall in level five at the titles on the weekend, missing out on third place by only one point.
Club co-ordinator Pam Davis was pleased with the youngster's result and also highlighted the performance of Mylie Gill, who was 22nd overall in level five.
"They've both been training really hard and it's a credit to the amount of work they've put in," she said. "They've done extra training as well so we're thrilled to bits with how they've gone."
The pair entered a regional competition in Geelong, where 99 gymnasts competed.
The top 33 progressed to the state final in Melbourne on Sunday, with Aylish and 11-year-old Mylie making the cut.
Aylish's stand-out result in the final was a third in bars.
"In the past, and this is going back eight or nine years, we've had a couple of people win it overall but the last few years we haven't had anyone have the success that these girls have had," Davis said.
"Competitively, the club has had a really good year and some really good results at all the regional competitions like Mount Gambier, Hamilton and Horsham.''
Next on Aylish and Mylie's calendar is a Natimuk tournament in a fortnight.
It will mark the end of the season for the Springers.
