CAMPERDOWN netball export Sarah Wall hopes her switch back to the Melbourne Vixens results in another major change.
The mid-courter was approached by her former side late last week following the departure of Vixens centre Natasha Chokljat.
After a chat with Melbourne coach Julie Hoornweg, it didn't take long for Wall to snap up the chance to cross back to her home state after a season with the Queensland Firebirds.
She has set herself a goal for 2011 - to establish herself as a centre in the trans-Tasman Championship.
"I played most of my junior netball as a centre," she said.
"I'm really looking forward to developing my game.
"I've already got the fitness base, which I worked on this year with the Firebirds. I'm looking to give (centre) a go but it just depends on what other players do and what's best for the team."
Wall suffered a season-ending knee injury late in this year's championship, which required her to have surgery. Her rehabilitation is meeting its targets.
"I'm 100 per cent for where they asked me to be at this time," she said. "I'm feeling every day that it's getting stronger and I'm in great hands with all the Vixens staff."
Wall is completing about four hours of rehabilitation each day - a decrease from what followed immediately after she went under the knife.
Her training is a combination of strength work and cardio, and she also makes sure a ball is never far away.
"I've been passing the ball while I've been doing weights and leg strengthening, just so I don't lose touch," she said.
The Vixens officially start pre-season in the first week of November.
"But my pre-season started as soon as I did my knee," said Wall, who was enjoying her demanding schedule.
"Training comes naturally for me, that's where I'm lucky. I love training and even when I don't have netball, I'll still be making sure I'm fit and active."
The dynamo was looking forward to her family being a car ride away, rather than a flight, and hoped the Vixens would have a season to remember after surprisingly missing the finals this year.
"We haven't really got together yet but I know all the girls have high expectations of themselves and hope to come out and have a strong season," Wall said.
