State League netball leaders to fight it out

09 Feb, 2012 03:00 AM
LADDER-leaders Hampden Green and Port Fairy will be out to protect their undefeated records in tonight’s fourth round of Western Region State League netball.

The second-placed Port Fairy Netball Association side opens tonight’s proceedings against sixth-placed Warrnambool and District Football Netball League Yellow at Warrnambool Stadium.

Port Fairy, in its first campaign in the competition, has two wins, but is coming off a bye last weekend, while opponent WDFNL Yellow enters the match in good form after getting within five goals of third-placed Hampden White last week.

Hampden Green, which has two wins from two starts, faces the seventh-placed South West District league team.

Neighbouring Colac and District (fifth) and Camperdown Night Netball Association (fourth) are expected to fight out a close match.

Eighth-placed Cobden and District Night Association faces an uphill battle, tackling third-placed Hampden White in the late game at 9.15pm.

In the 17 and under competition, the undefeated pair of Hampden White and Hampden Green square off in a battle for top spot, also at 9.15pm.

Action in both grades begins at 6.45pm.
