TANIA King is not your typical mum.
While she cooks, cleans, works on the family farm at Hawkesdale and takes care of her three young children, it's her new hobby which makes her stand out.
And it's all because of her husband Chris, who is a member of the Warrnambool and District Drag Racing Association (WADDRA).
"(At the last meeting) he wasn't racing the car and as a joke, I said 'why don't I have a go?'," she recalled.
"He said 'you can if you want'."
Tania's son Zachary, 13, also chimed in and encouraged his mum to jump in the driver's seat.
"I always tell him to have a go at things so I thought 'why not?'," Tania said.
"The first time I was a little bit nervous but after I did it, it was so much fun.
"Zachary thought it was pretty cool."
The 36-year-old is hooked on the sport and is expected to contest tomorrow's WADDRA meeting at Warrnambool Aerodrome. "I'm hoping to get off to a quicker start because if I do that, my overall run will be quicker," Tania said.
She admitted she had no racing experience before the last meeting.
"I'm just a household mum who drives my kids to the bus," she laughed.
"It shows that anyone of any age or any ability can do it.
"It's a pity there aren't more women involved.
"Families are very welcome there.
"A lot of people came up to me afterwards and were very encouraging."
Gates open at 7am tomorrow, with racing from 9am.
The meeting will have a Harley Davidson bracket, along with the usual car and bike brackets.
