COBDEN driver Jessica Moulden gave her beloved machine the perfect send-off on the weekend when she came second in the Tasmanian Formula 500 Championship.
The gutsy 22-year-old set herself a goal of a podium finish and was thrilled to exceed her expectations at the Latrobe track.
It was Moulden's last race behind the wheel of her Swift chassis.
"Going into the final I was confident I could make top three based on the heat results," she said.
"I was just happy to bring the car home straight and in one piece."
Moulden opened her two day account with four impressive heat placings including two firsts, one second and one third.
The clean runs secured her second position on the 15-car grid going into the final.
The 20-lap title race was incident-free allowing Moulden to set up a clear charge for the finish line.
"We didn't have any stoppages. We went from green to chequer, which was good," she said.
"But the track was a little bit rough compared to what we have here."
However, the young Victorian admitted she lost touch with Tasmanian leader Shaun Robbins when the trophy was up for grabs in the early laps of the race.
"There was a bit of a battle for first and second in the first six laps but then I dropped off," Moulden said.
"Shaun held his lead and won for the third time in a row."
Despite having already sold her car, Moulden has bright hopes for the future.
She told The Standard she was trying to secure a deal in the seat of a 360-cubic-inch engine sprintcar but would not disclose further details.
