WARRNAMBOOL trainer Steve Andrews has two kickboxers on opposite ends of the spectrum competing in Shepparton tonight.
While Ben Barbetti will contest his first fight, the more experienced Sam Edney is edging closer to his 10th fight.
Andrews said the duo was well-prepared for the KO5 Shepparton meet, where they will practice Muay Thai.
"The last two months have been full-on for them," he said.
"They've been running in the mornings and training most nights. I couldn't have asked for anything more from them."
While Barbetti has been with Andrews for a year, Edney has been kickboxing for two years.
"I haven't seen Ben the last couple of days but I've been getting texts from him," Andrews said. "It probably hasn't hit him yet and probably won't until (last night's) weigh-in."
Both competitors will fight in the middle-weight class, with Barbetti losing about five kilograms in the past few weeks so he could go down in weight.
While he will contest three rounds, Edney will contest five.
"Sam's opponent is actually from my old gym in Queensland," Andrews said.
"It will be strange to be up against my old trainers. We'll have a fairly similar style of fighting."
Andrews was looking forward to watching both boys take on new opponents as he joked he was sick of being their punching bag.
