FORMER Warrnambool kickboxer Clayton Collyer will captain the Australian Muay Thai at the Arafura Games in Darwin.
The concreter and personal trainer, 29, has been kickboxing and doing Muay Thai for about 15 years and lives on Gold Coast.
He said the week-long Arafura Games involved Asian-Pacific countries and would be held in Darwin and Korea starting May 9.
"Muay Thai being included in the Arafura Games is a big thing for the community Muay Thai and kickboxing community," Collyer said.
"I've been chosen to fight in the welterweight 67kg division and to captain the Australian side.
"Eventually we hope that Muay Thai will be accepted into the Olympic Games and this is an important part of that process."
Collyer said some of the best Muay Thai fighters in the world were expected to compete in Darwin.
"A lot of the big names will be there so it should be a great tournament," he said.
