WARRNAMBOOL Gold and City Memorial Gold still can't boast bragging rights over one another.
The powerhouses of Warrnambool and District Ladies Bowling Association were unable to finish their match yesterday due to the heat.
The game was declared a draw, just like in round five when the teams were locked on 72 apiece at the end of the 2008-09 grand final replay.
Warrnambool Gold's Pat Boyd said the temperature reached 30 degrees after lunch at Timor Street yesterday.
"Then during the game it got to 33.5, then 35," she said.
The round 12 match was called off with 11 ends to play, which was frustrating for Warrnambool.
It was on track to thrash its rival thanks to a 43-shot advantage.
Bev Hayes led Joan Stevenson 29-9, Joan Anderson was up against Denise Hillier 25-13 while Helen Lock was in front of Kaye Maddern 23-12.
Warrnambool Blue was also leading visitor Lawn Tennis when their game was abandoned.
The match between City Memorial Green and Port Fairy at Cramer Street was also cancelled due to the heat.
The sun wasn't quite so harsh in Timboon, where the warmer conditions obviously suited the home side as it upset Terang 83-55.
Margaret Sumner's was the only visiting rink to record a victory, eclipsing June Hallyburton 24-22.
Betty Russell defeated Jenny Meade 39-12 while Noelene Richards edged out Carol Cardwell 22-19.
"We were fairly level with them all day," Timboon's Rita Rundle said.
"We all must've bowled pretty well."
The game was never in threat of being called off.
"It wasn't that hot here," Rundle said. "We didn't even look at the thermometer.
"It only got hot right at the finish."
The association will break for Christmas and New Year.
Play resumes January 12.
