A NICE meal, a bit of TV and off to bed was how Horsham jockey Dean Yendall planned to celebrate yesterday’s winning quintet at Warrnambool.
Yesterday’s meeting incredibly marked the second time that the hoop had ridden five winners at Warrnambool, notching up the same feat early last year.
He was one short of his career-best of six winners, which he recorded at Mildura in 2010.
Yendall said that everything fell into place for him yesterday.
“It’s just the way it panned out,” he said. “I had some decent rides. Everything just came together.”
He partnered winners Baremin (Darren Weir, race one), Sidereal Messenger (David Bourke, race two) and Ocean Mist (Weir, race four), while in the last two races of the day, he steered the Bill and Symon Wilde-trained runners Constant Force and Brewski to victory.
He said celebrations after a big haul like yesterday’s were often limited due to him having to work the following day.
