 Braun’s triple chance

Braun’s triple chance

11 Feb, 2012 03:00 AM
HARNESS racing trainer Dean Braun heads into tonight’s $25,000 Terang Pacing Cup (2680m) with a triple chance of claiming the top prize.

They are promising odds for the Lara-based conditioner, who is making his debut in the south-west feature.

Braun has three starters in the front row of the cup, including two favourites.

Night Of The Stars will take pole position against the rail for his first real attempt at open class racing.

“He’s a really nice horse,” Braun said.

“He’s unproven at this level but he’s (previously) matched it with the best of his age group.”

Braun’s next best chance is with Pacific Playgirl, off position seven.

The decorated mare finished fourth in the Angelique Club Cup at Melton earlier this month but has already proven herself against some of tonight’s runners, including Our Malabar in the Casey Classic.

“She’s drawn awkward but she’s proven at this level,” Braun said.

“There’s not a lot between Night Of The Stars and Pacific Playgirl. I can’t split them.”

Braun also has outside hope Our Chain Of Command starting six-wide off the front row.

Like the previous duo, Our Chain Of Command is a New Zealand import. He placed sixth in the Hamilton Pacing Cup last month behind winner Let’s Slash An Burn.

The latter is also a solid chance for tonight’s feature win, despite finishing last at Melton this month.

Let’s Slash An Burn will start from the second row.

Plenty of entertainment will be provided trackside, with face painting, showbags, a lolly scramble, clowns, a pony trot race, jumping castle and a merry-go-round for kids.

Racing starts from 6.30pm tonight, with the feature set to run at 9.30pm.
