Despite an overnight soaking and early morning rain, 75 keen women contested the annual stableford event.
Warrnambool trio Joy Bolden, Ann Fitzhenry and Lauren Higgins joined forces to win the teams competition with 93 points.
Bolden and Fitzhenry had similar outings across the 18 holes.
Both said it was tough going, with the turf soggy underfoot and gusty winds coming off the ocean.
Luckily for the players, the sun came out on queue at tee-off and provided some relief from the chill.
Bolden said her back nine was better than the front, while Fitzhenry said her form was “here and there”.
“We just tried to play steady golf,” Fitzhenry said.
But it was the reliable Higgins who propelled the team to the podium.
“Lauren was very consistent,” Bolden said.
Higgins, who swapped the tennis racquet for golf clubs three years ago, accumulated the bowl-winning 35 points.
The tally also earnt her the A grade win.
Bolden’s shock was heard across the room when the trio’s names were called out during the presentations.
All three laughed as they recounted their battles in the blustery conditions but promised to defend the title next year.
While it was the first bowl win for Fitzhenry and Higgins, Bolden’s name was also engraved onto the perpetual trophy in 1993.
The closest visiting team was Hamilton’s Helen Leech, Krista Hughes and Kerry Bond, with 78 points.
