SCOTTISH flavour was added to the Warrnambool Golf Club ladies' opening day yesterday as a foreigner took out the B grade event.
Anne Campbell and her husband Ian have been coming to Warrnambool for about a decade as their daughter lives in the city.
The Scots are quick to take up a membership at the Warrnambool course when they arrive Down Under.
"We're so lucky to be here," Mrs Campbell said.
"Back at home all my friends would be huddled up in front of the fire.
"The courses are too wet.
"It's so great to be here and to be able to wear shorts and a top."
Yesterday marked Campbell's first victory of this summer's three-month stay, which will come to an end on March 4.
"I felt guilty for winning because I'm not from here," she laughed.
"But all the ladies here are all very friendly and welcoming."
When Campbell is at home she tees off at the Hilton Park Golf Club, which is north of Glasgow.
But she will need to wait about a month before she is able to play after she returns to Scotland because the conditions will still be unsuitable.
Terang's Judy Carmody took out the A grade yesterday while the C grade winner was Warrnambool's Pam Arklay.
