HAWAII represents a slice of Marc Leishman's past, present and future.
It's where the Warrnambool golfer completed his stunning debut on the US PGA Tour last year.
It's where he is currently for his first tournament of this year's tour, the Sony Open.
And it's where he will honeymoon with American fiancee Audrey Hills after their wedding in April.
Today is the opening round of the $5.5 million Sony Open at Waialae Country Club in Honolulu.
Last year Leishman made his debut on the lucrative circuit in the Sony Open, firing a seven-under-par 273 to finish equal 12th and pocket $US87,970.91.
He was eight strokes behind defending champion, American Zach Johnson.
Leishman revealed his major aim in 2010 was to secure his maiden victory on the tour.
"Hopefully I'm able to get a win or two," he said. "One would be nice to start off with.
"It would be good to get that out of the way and then I can concentrate on bigger and better things," he said.
The 26-year-old arrived in Hawaii on Sunday.
A visit to Pipeline Beach followed, where he witnesses 30-foot waves.
He believed his form heading into the tournament was promising.
"I've been doing a fair bit of practice in the last month or so and played reasonably well at home so it's looking pretty good," he said.
"I like the course and it's just a good place to be.
"Hopefully I can do better than I did last year."
The reigning rookie of the year will tee off from the front nine today with Americans Scott McCarron and Nicholas Thompson.
The Sony Open is the first full-field event of the US PGA Tour season.
"It's right on the beach so it's pretty relaxed.
"I guess it's similar to the Sunshine Coast.
