Leishman helps out his home town club

19 Nov, 2009 09:47 AM
MARC Leishman never forgets where he came from.

The professional golfer will get comfortable on the couch tomorrow night at the place where his career began.

Fresh from his Aust?ralian Masters campaign and successful debut on the US PGA Tour, the 26-year-old and his caddy Matt Kelly will give up their time for Warrnambool Golf Club.

The pair will be the main attraction as the club hosts "On The Couch with Marc and Matty".

Club general manager Gary Parsons was grateful that the duo were helping with the fund-raiser.

"It's absolutely great," he said. "We've sold about 250 tickets. It's nearly sold-out.

"We've got an MC (Chris Kol) who will be firing questions and Marc's going to talk about his experiences on the PGA Tour along with Matty."

Tomorrow night's event is the start of a big weekend for the club, which has its eighth "Extravaganza of Golf" on Sunday.

Twenty-four teams will have lunch, play a five-person, 18-hole ambrose event and then enjoy a dinner.

An auction will follow, with bidders vying for Leishman's golf bag and Titleist irons he used on the tour.

"It was my idea (to auction them)," Leishman said.

"All they are going to do is sit in my cupboard."

The clubs include a 2-iron to 9-iron plus a lob wedge and come with his bag, complete with boxing kangaroo insignia.

A framed collection of autographed photos of Geoff Ogilvy, Leishman and Tiger Woods will also generate interest.
