Scare for netballer

10 Aug, 2009 05:00 AM
KOROIT wing defence Monique Sefton is recovering in hospital after experiencing breathing difficulties during the Hampden encounter with Camperdown on Saturday at Victoria Park.

Coach Kate Foster said Sefton was forced from the court after exerting herself chasing a loose ball during the third quarter.

"She had a real shortness of breath and was shaky," Foster said.

"She was not improving so we called an ambulance."

Sefton was cared for by nurses attending the match until an ambulance arrived.

She was playing her first game in four weeks after being treated for pneumonia, which heightened concerns for her welfare.

"I suppose it was (a scare)," Foster said.

"It's never nice to see one of your players leave the ground in an ambulance.

"We just hope she can make the quickest recovery but her health is a priority."
