NORTH Warrnambool Eagles coach Dot Jenkins is proud of the way her team sealed its place in the HFNL netball top five on Saturday at Bushfield Oval.
The Eagles put a three-game space on South Warrnambool with their 45-29 victory against the Roosters in their round 16 clash.
"We could have fallen into finals today and won by one or you stamp it," Jenkins said.
"It's going to be tough but we earned our place today."
North made its intentions clear by intercepting the first centre pass and converting the opportunity, which set the tone for a 12-6 opening term.
The home side extended its lead at every break, with the only negative a flat final quarter when the intensity dropped.
The Eagles successfully rotated Sophie Barr, Jo Jenkins, Elisha Carter and Jaime Barr through the mid-court.
Sophie Barr finished the game in the goal circle alongside Laura Blackburn, who was the leading scorer with 33 goals.
Dot Jenkins said the successful rotations enabled her side to hold a decisive edge in the mid-court.
"I don't think any of our girls lost today," Jenkins said. "We may have been even in some positions.
"Everyone performed really well today."
South Warrnambool missed the leadership of Leah Kermeen (unav) but was well served by goal defence Nicole Butler, Liz Byrne and Sue Fleming.
The winning side's best players were key defender Maddison Smedts, Black-burn and Sophie Barr.
North is now focused on building momentum in the last two home-and-away rounds. It meets Camperdown (fifth) next Saturday and Koroit (first) in round 18.
Camperdown matched strides with Koroit for a half on Saturday before a 15-6 third quarter powered the Saints to a 55-36 victory, defender Stacey O'Sullivan leading the way.
Terang Mortlake needed a 19-8 last quarter to shrug off Cobden 50-39, with Belinda O'Connor, Hayley Plozza and Siobhan Sefton its best.
A 13-5 opening term put Warrnambool on the road to a 66-40 victory against Port Fairy at Reid Oval.
