Loss to the best no disgrace

29 Jun, 2010 01:00 AM
CAPE Bridgewater surfer Adam Robertson's early exit from the Sri Lankan Pro last week has been made mildly bearable.

Robertson made it to the final 16 surfers but was knocked out by Sunshine Coast wildcard Julian Wilson.

Wilson opened the heat with an 8.9 ride, making it near impossible for the Victorian to advance to the next stage.

Robertson bowed out after posting 6.5 compared to Wilson's 16.55.

The 22-year-old Queenslander went on to win the Sri Lankan event.

Robertson - who suffered a snapped board earlier in the competition - finished ninth.
