The Roosters will tomorrow night kick off a campaign to fund major improvements to the club's social rooms with a visit from Network Ten's Before The Game show panellist Lehmo and a goods and services auction.
Club publicity officer Anne Maree Quinlan said the Roosters had extended their canteen area this season to improve safety in the kitchen but the bigger facility effectively took away the front entrance to the social rooms.
She said the club needed to re-model the front so there was access for people with disabilities. Part of the revamp would also see a display area created for memorabilia.
The club is also launching a Rooster Run, a fundraiser to help support the renovation. The run involves the club selling personalised pavers which would be laid on the veranda leading to the new entrance.
"The idea with the Rooster Run is that members, supporters, sponsors and past players can leave their mark on the club by purchasing a paver - for instance a premiership player might buy one and put their name on it and year of the flag," she said.
One piece of footy memorabilia expected to attract a lot of interest from buyers at the auction is a pair of football boots worn by ex Rooster, Brisbane Lions captain Jonathan Brown.
Magpies fans still basking in their premiership will have an opportunity to buy a signed Collingwood jumper, while St Kilda, Richmond, Hawthorn, Chris Judd and Luke Hodge-signed jumpers will also go under the hammer at the Sebel Deep Blue tomorrow night.
