The field of 24 riders was sectioned into eight bunches for the 32-kilometre event.
Teenagers Woolley and Lane hit the lead with five kilometres to go, with Jeff McLean and Darby Lee the only riders to hang on to the youngsters.
Club secretary Cynthia McLaren said humidity and strong winds added extra degrees of difficulty to the race.
“There seemed to be side or head winds at every turn of the corner,” she said.
“Limit had a handy start of 23 minutes and had only been caught by two bunches after the first lap.
“A couple of the strong riding scratch bunch managed to ride through the field and hit the lead with only five kilometres remaining,” she said.
“Darcy Woolley and Matt Lane rode an impressive race which shows that their training program is working in their favour.”
Woolley crossed the line first and posted the fastest time of 45 minutes and 30 seconds.
Lane, Lee, McLean and David Tozer made up the top five.
Rob Cassie was sixth, followed by Simon Walsh, Darrin Jones, Chris West and Kate Winnen.
“This was the last race for Dave Tozer with the Port Fairy club before he begins his new life in Melbourne,” McLaren said.
“The club wishes Dave, Katherine and Sophie all the best in their move and hopes to see them around the club whenever they are in town.” she said.
Port Fairy’s next club race is a criterium tomorrow night, starting at Cox Street.
Racing returns to Toolong this Saturday, with juniors leading off at 1pm and seniors at 2pm.
