Warrnambool loses a thriller at Melbourne Country Week

13 Feb, 2012 09:08 AM
THE WDCA suffered a heart-breaking loss against Bairnsdale in its opening Melbourne Country Week match.

In a thrilling finish, Bairnsdale hit the winning run on the fourth ball of the 50th over to claim a four-wicket win.

With Bairnsdale cruising at 1-124, the WDCA stormed back into the match taking 5-37 in 14 overs before coming up three balls short of what would have been a stunning victory.

Hamilton drew first blood, downing South West Cricket at Melbourne Country Week.

South West Cricket collapsed to be all out for 120, chasing Hamilton's 9-188.

Hamilton, which failed to win a game in division two last year, is delighted with its start to the carnival.
