CAPTAIN Ben Grinter hit his way into Terang's record books, becoming the first player to score three consecutive centuries.
Grinter, in the best batting form of his life, made 127 as his first-placed side reached an imposing 274 against sixth-placed Boorcan at Terang.
The ton came after he made 115 in the previous game against Mortlake and 183 against Camperdown a fortnight earlier.
In his first year as skipper, Grinter has scored 578 runs at average of 82.57, including the three centuries and scores of 97 and 62.
The left-hander said he was pleased with his form.
"Especially leading into Melbourne Country Week," Grinter said as he prepared to board a bus to Melbourne yesterday with the SWC representative side.
"I've been there for the last three years and I probably should stand up and start making some runs there.
"It's alright to make them at club level but when you get the chance to play against country Victoria's best, you want to make an impact.
"There is no doubt it will be difficult. If I get the chance, I will have to try and grind my way through it to a big score."
He made an unbeaten 72 with SWC against Hamilton at Melbourne Country Week last year.
Although happy to get a third ton from three SWC division one games, Grinter said his side should have recorded a bigger score.
"I was pretty disappointed. We were 4-220 at tea and all out for 274. Really we should have made 300-plus. Now we have got to do the job with the ball next week."
His side made a good start in the field, having Boorcan 3-31 at stumps.
