The club is celebrating a 25-year reunion since its reformation at the Noorat Recreation Reserve on Saturday night.

Club secretary Adam Box said the naming of the special team would be a highlight of the evening. A three-man selection panel, comprising club stalwarts Stephen Conheady, Bernie Harris and Sean Moloney, was chosen to create the fantasy side.

“Twelve players will be presented with plaques acknowledging their positions in the best team of the past 25 years,” Box said.

“Noorat Cricket Club has been very successful since reforming and all premiership players will also be recognised on the night.”

Box said the reunion was the brainchild of David Conheady and many club affiliates had jumped on board to organise the celebration.

Noorat has enjoyed plenty of success in the past 25 years, including nine premierships across the senior divisions and one junior flag.

Box said it was “the people involved in the club” that ensured Noorat’s welcoming-but-competitive reputation.

“We’ve been successful because the club is a good place to be around,” he said.

“A lot of people like to come out and play cricket because of our casual attitude.

“Sometimes these things (reunions) slip through but we think it’s important to recognise it.”

Noorat has played in the Hopkins Nullawarre Cricket Association and Mount Emu Creek Cricket Association and is currently part of the South West Cricket association.

“A large number of people have indicated that they will attend the official dinner,” Box said.

“All current and past players, partners and supporters are encouraged to attend.”

The festivities start at 7pm.
