THE forecast is looking good weather-wise, but Brierly Christ Church will be hoping for more than just sunshine in today's last-round match.
After last weekend's wash-out, the Bulls are in the precarious position of relying not only on themselves to win against Wesley CBC in order to make the finals, but on top two sides Allansford and Nestles to take the points in their respective games.
The rain has turned all of today's games into one-dayers, which is not ideal, Brierly captain-coach Nathan Murphy said.
"I would have rathered play a two-dayer - a one-dayer (can) make it a closer contest," Murphy said.
Despite being the current bottom side, defeating Wesley CBC at Walter Oval won't be easy, the Bulls captain said.
"We beat them in a one-dayer earlier in the year by nine runs where we were only chasing 120-odd," he explained.
"It was a close one - we needed nine runs with one wicket in hand."
While it will be tempting to keep an eye on the progress of the Allansford-Russells Creek and Nestles-Merrivale games, Murphy wants his team to focus on defeating Wesley CBC.
"All we spoke about is trying to win this game," he said.
"We just have to stick to the game plan and play good cricket like we have for the last month and a bit. We were on the bottom about two months ago and I think the turning point was when we beat West Warrnambool - that proved we could beat a top four side."
Murphy said the top order would need to fire to give the team a good chance, while the return of bowler Shane Murphy would put a bit more pace into the bowling attack.
In other games, Dennington will need more than just a victory against West Warrnambool to sneak into the top four.
It will be hoping fourth-placed Russells Creek loses to Allansford, fifth-placed Merrivale loses to Nestles and sixth-placed Brierly loses to Wesley CBC to make it in.
Merrivale will also be hoping for a Russells Creek loss to secure the prized last top four spot.
