THIS week has been eventful for Altona playing coach Sharon Grieve.
And she hopes the weekend is even more so.
The Lady Gators star has started a new job this week ahead of game one of the Big V division one women's grand final against the Warrnambool Mermaids.
While she admitted life was quite hectic, she also admitted she loves a challenge, which is what she believes Sunday's best-of-three opener against the visiting Mermaids will be.
"They've got a lot of good kids as well as some good senior players, they're quite tall and they've got a lot of players who can come off the bench and contribute," she said
"I think they are similar to us.
"We also have quite a few players who we are able to rotate and anyone can step up on the day."
Grieve will be one of Warrnambool's main concerns this weekend as she has averaged an impressive 15.9 points, 8.2 rebounds and 3.9 assists per game this season.
Grieve's main concern this weekend is Altona taking out game one.
The Lady Gators only needed two matches in the semi-final series, defeating Mildura comfortably in both games.
"It was good being able to rest up on the Sunday," she said.
"It's very important to (win the opener against Warrnambool) because they've had a great year, so above all it will just give us confidence.
"If you don't get game one, it makes it very hard."
Altona has kept its usual training routine ahead of the season decider.
"We have two sessions a week," Grieve said.
"Basically this week we're just going through who we're playing and talking some strategies on how we're going to play them.
"We'll want to be putting a lot of shots up."
The Mermaids are also sticking to their usual training schedule this week, with coach Peter Davis saying that tonight's session would be lighter than usual due to the minor premiers coming off a demanding weekend.
Tip-off on Sunday is 1pm at Altona Sports Centre.
