IF tonight's Warrnambool Seahawks match is anything like its previous encounters with Melbourne University, coach Tim Gainey knows it is going to be a tussle.
He also knows that his side has the seasoned heads to come out on top in a pressure-packed ending, proved by the Seahawks edging out the Black Angels by less than six points on the three occasions the teams have clashed this season.
"Some handle the pressure better than others but we know that when it's crunch time, we have a lot of guys that have been in positions like that before, such as Bobby (Cunningham), Chad (Yates) and myself," he said.
"If we have at least one of us out on the court, it helps."
Following last week's heartstopping two-point victory against Melbourne University, a win to the Seahawks on the road tonight would wrap up the best-of-three semi-final series for the Seahawks and earn a ticket to the grand final.
"Winning last week was very important, just because it takes the pressure off us a bit and puts it back on them," Gainey said. "We still need to concentrate and play like we're supposed to.
"We definitely need to get off to a good start and we need to try and shut down one of their three guys (who do most of their scoring)."
The coach believed if Warrnambool could curb the influence of just one of the Black Angels' damaging trio - Scott Cuffe, Liam Norton and Nicholas Masunda - it would potentially be match-winning.
He said the Seahawks completed one of their best training sessions of the season on Thursday night.
Tonight's tip-off at Melbourne University Sports Centre will be at 7pm. Game three, if required, will be at the same venue at 2.30pm tomorrow.
