AUSTRALIAN Idol winner Wes Carr will headline the Day On The Hill concert at Flagstaff Hill Maritime Museum.
The annual event, which is now in its fourth year, will take place on Easter Sunday and feature live music and activities throughout the day.
Carr will be joined by local artists Paul Howard, The Monicas and Wild Roomers on the museum's unique stage located in its replica historic village.
The day will also include cannon firings, a demonstration of the Flagstaff Hill steam room, kids activities, face painting, lighthouse tours, an historic vehicle display, a food and wine area plus a visit from the Easter Bunny.
Tickets for the family event are on sale now through the Flagstaff Hill website and are expected to sell fast. Gates will open from 10am with the first band on from 11am.
Flagstaff Hill manager Peter Abbott said Day On The Hill was one of the attraction's big three events of the year, with the others being the New Year's Eve festivities and the Friday night of Wunta.
"Day On The Hill is an important day for Flagstaff Hill because it opens up the whole village and is a fundraiser, with the funds going towards us maintaining our heritage collection," he said.
While headliners in the past have included Mental As Anything and Pseudo Echo, Mr Abbott said this year's selection of Carr was a conscious effort to "try something new for our area" as the Idol winner had not played in the south-west before.
"He's a bit more contemporary ... but (a musician) who I think will appeal to teens and people in their 20s as well as the mums and dads who saw him on Australian Idol."
Prior to his Idol success, Carr played in Tambalane - a side project for Silverchair's Ben Gillies - and released a solo album.
He also contributed a song to the 2006 Christopher Guest film For Your Consideration.
His post-Idol album The Way The World Looks peaked at number 2 on the ARIA album charts and yielded the number 1 single You.
