AFTER 25 years in the industry, Doris Younane knows what it takes to turn aspiring performers into working actors and she's hoping to find some untapped talent in the south-west.
Trained at the National Institute of Dramatic Art (NIDA), Younane has worked alongside Australian acting greats including Geoffrey Rush, Rebecca Gibney and Sigrid Thornton.
Younane has appeared in a range television, theatre and film productions including McLeod's Daughters, Seachange, Blackjack and the Heartbreak Kid.
But now she's looking to give the next group of Aussie actors a step up and will hold a two-day workshop in Warrnambool for aspiring actors who want to see if they've got what it takes to make it.
"I'm very curious to see what talent is out there," she said.
"It's not easy. It will be a full-on workshop and you've just got to survive it but it will be a great experience.
"I love doing workshops with people who don't have the same opportunities and access city kids do. There's talent everywhere but kids need the opportunity."
Younane said the workshop was for anyone who had a passion for acting and wanted the chance for a professional to give them an honest assessment of their talent and help them map their career.
"There are so many preconceived ideas about acting that it's hard to find work and you won't make it, but if you have talent and have passion why not give it a go," she said.
Dates will be finalised depending on interest, but Younane said if there was enough demand she would consider making Warrnambool a regular venue for her workshops. Places are limited and participants must be aged over 16 to attend.
