A TERANG teenager charged with threatening to kill members of his family and possessing a firearm has been remanded in custody after appearing in the Warrnambool Magistrates Court yesterday.
Troy Hull, 18, of Spring Dam Road, is charged with threat to kill, recklessly causing injury, possessing a firearm and handling stolen goods.
Police allege on December 29, 2009, Mr Hull's father handed in a gun at the Cobden police station allegedly found by his 16-year-old son under the bed of the accused.
Police allege Mr Hull's father told them he had concerns for his safety and the safety of his family.
The court heard a police check found the gun had been reported stolen in July, 2008.
On January 3, police attended the Hull residence after the accused allegedly attacked his 16-year-old brother after finding out he handed the gun to their father.
It is alleged Mr Hull hit his brother with a rake handle and punched him.
Police alleged Mr Hull made a number of threats to kill his father, mother and brother and was taken into custody when he allegedly continued to threaten his family, before threatening to kill himself. Mr Hull was given a psychological assessment in hospital but was released without treatment.
Magistrate Ian von Einem refused bail and Mr Hull will appear in court again on January 14.
