A NEW South Wales shire has responded to community outrage over plans to fluoridate drinking water by holding a public plebiscite.
Fluoride Action Group convener Peter Hulin told The Standard - ahead of tomorrow night's anti-fluoride rally - that the Eurobodalla Shire had put out tenders for community consultation despite a NSW Health directive to add fluoride to drinking water.
Eurobodalla Shire's approach undermined Warrnambool City Council claims it had no choice but to implement the Department of Human Services directive, Mr Hulin said. He called on Warrnambool City Council to follow the NSW municipality's lead and hold a vote.
Mr Hulin said the member for Wannon David Hawker would attend the rally to be held on the Civic Green from 6pm tomorrow.
State Opposition leader Ted Baillieu would try to send a representative.
The rally will be held just two hours after Wannon Water tenders to supply the fluoridation plant close.
