Camel rides, a fortune teller and the animal nursery proved to be the popular attractions at the 77th annual show.
Heytesbury Agricultural Society secretary Libby Van Donk said rain had meant numbers were down on the previous event.
“We were very lucky compared with other parts of the state,” she said.
“Luckily it didn’t last that long. Numbers were definitely down on last year.

“Those who braved the weather were happy that they did. The numbers of people on the rides were down but the animal nursery was as popular as ever.
“This year we had the horses win the barrel race. We had national barrel racing champion Amber Burns. Last year the motorbikes won, so that was good.”
Mrs Van Donk praised the work of volunteers who put in a full day’s work.
“We work just as hard no matter how successful it is.
“The weather is the only thing we can’t control. The Corangamite Relay for Life was on the same night, maybe we need to talk about moving some dates.”
For 10-year-old Josh Baynes the show was a happy one with the Cobden Primary School pupil winning the novelty article made from fruit and vegetables category and also taking out the best exhibit for that class.
His mother, Colleen, said Josh had had a fantastic day at the show with his winning entry which was an aeroplane.
