A DREAM to participate in the world's best mountain bike camp has been realised by Warrnambool's Michael McMahon.
The 15-year-old student will fly to Canada for a week-long camp after applying to the Make a Wish Foundation.
The avid mountain bike rider has longed to go to Canada after reading about the camp in cycling magazines and watching footage of professional riders on television.
"I've been interested in mountain bike riding since I was four years old and in the last year or so I thought it would be great to be involved in a camp," Michael, who has cystic fibrosis, said.
"Canada has some of the best mountain bike tracks in the world and this camp has a lot of pro-riders working as teachers.
"I've never been overseas before so it will be exciting."
Michael's mother Kirsty McMahon applied to the Make a Wish Foundation .
She said six family members including her sister Shari, her younger son Ricky and her parents Peter and Julieanne would all fly to British Columbia next weekend.
The mountain bike camp is located near Kamloops, high in the Rocky Mountains.
"He's been riding mountain bikes ever since his legs were long enough to reach the pedals," Ms McMahon said.
"Plenty of exercise assists with his cystic fibrosis, so it's lucky he loves bike riding."
Make a Wish Hamilton wish granting co-ordinator Cheryl McCallum said it was pleasing to help Michael make his ambition a reality.
