MG buys maximum stake in WCB

MURRAY Goulburn has secured the maximum number of shares in Warrnambool Cheese and Butter and intends to increase its stake even further.

The co-operative confirmed in a letter to suppliers and shareholders yesterday it had now bought a 10 per cent stake in the Allansford-based milk processor in a move to better their merger chances.

MG chairman Grant Davies said the co-operative maintained the view that a merger between MG and WCB would provide higher returns for dairy farmers.
