Using historical data, he argues that global warming is natural and not caused by humans burning fossil fuels.
The former head of the National Climate Centre now runs the Australasian Climate Research Institute from his home in Victoria.
Against an over-whelming tide of scientific studies pointing to man-made pollution as the main reason for stark changes in climatic patterns, he argues there are natural reasons for increased concentrations of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere.
He worked with the Australian Bureau of Meteorology for 38 years in weather forecaster, research and applied studies and for 12 years until 1998 was head of its national climate centre.
His Warrnambool forum on March 14 in Emmanuel College has been organised by the Australian Family Association through former local magistrate Jim Hanrahan.
“This man is well qualified and presents a clear case,” Mr Hanrahan said.
“We think there’s a need for the local community to hear an alternative viewpoint.”
The forum will also challenge the federal government’s carbon tax with Melbourne speaker Peter Westmore pressing the case against it.
“Carbon tax will affect prices of basic goods purchased by families,” Mr Hanrahan said.
