IT was anything but a typical day at work for Warrnambool's Megan Culell.
Starting the day with a full head of blonde locks, the real estate office worker had it all lopped off to raise money as part of the Leukaemia Foundation's World's Greatest Shave.
The 19-year-old, who works at Ray White Real Estate, said she had already stocked up on beanies and head scarves to combat the winter chills.
"I've wanted to do it for a couple of years," she said. "A lot of people go through worse and this is a good cause."
With colleagues cheering her on, Megan got her new look courtesy of Jade Fazakerley, a co-worker who is a qualified hairdresser.
Rubbing her stubbled head after the close cut, Megan said it felt "strange". "It was good, worth it to raise the money," she said.
Ray White director Leanne Mugavin said the business would support her fund-raising effort by donating $100 from every house sold in March.
"I had non-Hodgkin lymphoma so this is very close to my heart because I've been through the whole losing my hair thing," she said.
"We are very happy to support Megan, I think it's wonderful."
Megan has already reached her fund-raising goal of $500 but is still accepting donations .
The Leukaemia Foundation World's Greatest Shave is one of Australia's biggest fundraising events with money raised used to fund free services to support patients and families living with leukaemias, lymphomas, myeloma and related blood disorders.
It also funds blood cancer research to find better treatments and cures.
More than 125,000 people across Australia are expected to shave or colour their hair this year for the cause.
