TWO COLAC men have been charged with aggravated burglary after allegedly attempting to strangle a man with a cord during a prolonged assault last night.
Colac police Sergeant Bill Caldow, of the Criminal Investigation Unit, said that at 7.45pm the 29-year-old victim answered a knock on the door of his Heart Street home.
He said a man was standing outside and a second man, both known to the victim, barged past and into the home.
The house occupant then alleged he was assaulted, with his attackers wrapping a cord around his neck and strangling him.
Sergeant Caldow said the cord broke, but both offenders then kneed, kicked and punched the victim in a prolonged assault before leaving.
The house occupant suffered a blood nose, black eyes, bruises and scratches to his head, back and upper body.
The two alleged offenders were arrested by Colac uniform police officers late last night and charged with aggravated burglary and serious assault-related offences.
The Colac men, aged 29 and 25, are expected to appear in the Geelong Magistrates Court on Friday.
Police understand that the assault was the result of an ongoing dispute.
