WARRNAMBOOL locals have known it for years and now it's been confirmed: a hamburger from Kermond's Snack Bar is one of Victoria's must-do attractions.
The iconic takeaway charted at number 46 in Victoria's top 101 attractions featured on the Nine Network's Postcards special last night.
RACV general manager of tourism and travel Neil James said more than 22,000 people across the state voted in the online poll.
``The fact that so many people voted for Kermond's is a testament to the shop's popularity and iconic status in Warrnambool,'' he said.
Kermond's co-manager Brett Healey said that the placing as one of Victoria's top tourist attractions was a tribute to the hard work of his staff.
``It's very pleasing to be considered a top tourist attraction and because there's so much history with the shop, people have a connection with it,'' he said.
Other south-west locales to receive a mention were, in alphabetical order, Bridgewater beach, Camperdown town centre, Cheeseworld at Allansford, Dartmoor's tree carvings, the Dunkeld races, the Glenelg River, the Grampians National Park, the Great South West Walk, the Hamilton Art Gallery, the Lake Bolac Eel Festival, Lake Pertobe, the Moyneyana Festival, the May Racing Carnival, Nelson, the Otway Fly Treetop Walk, Port Fairy, the Port Fairy Folk Festival, Portland the Princess Margaret Rose Cave and the Warrnambool Art Gallery.
