It's game on for a whole new gig

A HOTLY anticipated online computer game is expected to feature a track by Warrnambool musician Adam B. Metal.

Metal submitted the track End Of The Parade to upcoming massively multiplayer online (MMO) game APB (All-Points Bulletin) after the game-makers put out the call for unsigned bands to contribute music for players to listen to while playing.

Despite getting the thumbs-up from APB’s makers, the multi-instrumentalist is still holding his breath.

“I’m one of those people who won’t believe (something) until I see it or hear it myself,” Metal said.

“I was interested in the game before I handed in my application to get a song put on there. It looks really good ... and the more I read about it, the more I wanted to play it.”

End Of The Parade was recorded about two years ago by Metal for his solo project The Departed, which he began work on after he parted company with popular underground heavy group Frankenbok.

He said he plans to finish The Departed album this year and is keen to get his music on to more games.

“I’ve been writing music and playing video games for ages and this has never popped up ... then in the last 12 months I’ve been lucky finding these opportunities, even though it’s only two.”

His other game music track came courtesy of a harmless yet elaborate gag included on Rant Theory, a fortnightly podcast he does with fellow gamers Nathan Pye and Chris Wombwell.

As part of their review for the zanily titled Playstation Network game Super Sonic Acrobatic Rocket Powered Battle Cars, the guys recorded a fake theme song in the vein of a “Saturday morning cartoon show”, which they recorded at home.

“They absolutely loved it, which was hilarious, and then they said they’d love to put it in the next update on the title screen.’’
