VICTORIAN Governor Professor David de Kretser will visit Moyne Shire this week.

Moyne Shire Mayor James Purcell and chief executive officer Brett Stonestreet will welcome the Governor and accompany him as he meets the community during his two-day visit.

The Governor will visit Port Fairy Consolidated School on Thursday to see a new renewable energy project before stopping by the Port Fairy men's shed and community house later in the afternoon.

A civic reception will be held in honour of the Governor's visit at the Port Fairy Yacht Club on Thursday night.

On Friday the Governor will conclude his tour of Moyne Shire with a visit to the historic lifeboat and a sail on the river.

He will also visit the Mortlake power station and the Abbeyfield Hostel in Mortlake.

Before his appointment as Governor, Professor De Kretser worked as a medical researcher, academic and an infertility expert.

Professor David de Kretser succeeded John Landy as the 27th Governor of Victoria on April 7, 2006.
