Fun run for Peter's Project

07 Jun, 2010 12:11 PM
A FUN run through the picturesque Flagstaff Hill precinct later this month will have a serious cause, with funds raised going towards Peter's Project.

The Warrnambool Athletics Club will host the five-kilometre race, that will start and finish in the 1870s maritime village.

The event will raise funds and awareness for Peter's Project, a community campaign that is lobbying state and federal governments to approve the creation of a dedicated cancer treatment facility in Warrnambool.

With no centre between Geelong and Adelaide, south-west patients are travelling long distances to access specialised treatment.

Warrnambool Athletics Club race director Peter Auchettl said runners and walkers would enjoy the surrounds of the city's coastline.

"With the course running through the beautiful maritime village and views over Lady Bay it won't be hard to have a 'fun run'," he said.

The race will be held on Sunday June 20 from 10.30am.
